Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
What Are Bioidentical Hormones?
Bioidentical hormones are produced to closely match our natural hormones. Common hormones that are matched in this way include estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. These are used to treat men and women whose own hormones are low or out of balance.
Customized bioidentical hormones are safer, more effective, natural, and an individualized alternative to conventional hormone therapy.
As we get older, our levels of certain hormones decrease. These can include estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. This can lead to certain symptoms like:
- Hot flashes
- Night sweats
- Vaginal dryness
- Pain during sex
- Loss of interest in sex
- Loss of energy
- Fatigue
- Problems sleeping
- Loss of muscle mass
- Weight gain
- Foggy thinking
- Mood changes
- Memory loss
- Bone loss
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is done to boost the levels of the hormones that have been decreasing. As a result, the patient’s hormone levels will increase and symptoms will improve. Your doctor can discuss with you the therapy based on your preferences.
Patients who are receiving hormone treatment are closely monitored by their physicians to check for any side effects. Doses of the therapy are often adjusted according to the patient’s symptoms and needs, with the goal of keeping the dose to a minimum while achieving your goals. As your hormone levels change, your physician may adjust your dose.
What Is Pellet Therapy?
We offer bioidentical hormone replacement therapy via pellet therapy, which is inserted into your body in the doctor’s office. The pellets continually replace the natural hormones that have been lost with age. The pellets contain either estradiol, progesterone, or testosterone, which are pressed or fused into tiny solid cylinders.
When a patient receives BHRT, the pellets will deliver consistent hormones in the body for between three and five months in women and between four and six months in men. The pellets will dissolve inside the body on their own, and they can be replaced with new pellets as needed – depending on how rapidly the patient metabolizes and absorbs the hormones. Pellet therapy helps to prevent hormone fluctuations that are experienced with other methods of delivery, such as creams or pills, thus providing more consistent hormone levels over a long period.
Why Pellet Therapy?
There are several different types of delivery methods that can be used to administer BHRT; however, data shows that the most efficient method – by way of absorption and availability to deliver hormones in both men and women – is by pellet therapy. Pellet therapy provides many benefits whether your body needs more estrogen, testosterone, or progesterone.
Pellet Therapy vs. Traditional Delivery Methods
There are a number of advantages to pellet therapy for hormone replacement, including:
- Most convenient type of hormone replacement (only two times per year)
- The only long-term solution for hormone replacement
- Consistent administration of hormones (no rollercoaster effect)
- Up to 100% relief of hormone imbalance symptoms
- Continual protection against age-related conditions such as:
- Heart disease
- Cancer
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Osteoporosis
